Putting Together an Unforgettable Celebration Event

Have A Wedding Venue Checklist? Make Sure These Are On The List

When you are searching for a wedding venue you may know the basic questions to ask, like if your date is available, how many people do they seat, and if they have an onsite caterer, but there are other things to consider when you are wondering about the venue and your budget. Here are a few of the things to talk with the event coordinator or property manager about right away.

How Can Weather Affect Your Venue?

If you have a location where the driveway is gravel or stone, and the chances are high that it could rain or snow, you could end up with a very muddy wedding day. You want to look at the venue to see if a snowstorm could make it difficult to get to, or if an animal in the area could ruin an outdoor ceremony. These are things that could ruin your wedding, and need to be considered when picking a location. You may have to plan for a tent or other items.

Do the Inclusions Cover Your Budget?

If the venue says that it supplies table linens, dinnerware and other items, you need to know what all this includes. If you don't get the chair covers or napkins that you want, then this will be an additional cost. Some venues advertise they have table centerpieces, but really have empty glass vases that you can use. Check everything out so you know what more you may have to spend.

When Can You Get Inside the Venue?

If you have a lot of decorating to do you want to know how early you can get into the venue. If you have a lot that needs to be done this time is important. If they give you the night before or the morning of it may not be that big of a deal.

What is the Dessert Policy?

You may assume that you can have a cake and that they will cut it, or that you can have cupcakes and there will be no charges. The facility may charge you for more tables if you want to have different dessert bars, or they may have a cake cutting fee that you have to pay per head for each guest. Ask in advance so you know.

There are simple checklists you can find online or in the magazines, but these are important details you can't ignore either. Finding a great wedding venue in your budget means finding a venue that has everything that you want, and that you can afford.
